Launching in summer 2021, muon has five debut releases lined up to carry through the year, each with a unique and original voice. CHEW!
Yeter
Four skittering, ecstatic and meticulously assembled pieces packed full of cheeky vocal cuts, shameless house samples and three-dimensional grooves.
You’ll find some of your favourite nineties and naughties cliches here, but not as you’ve heard them before. Yeter’s post-modern obsession with presenting classic sounds in playfully unexpected combinations is what gives this EP such a fresh, joyful quality.
This is what we imagine it would sound like if we tried to teleport the very concept of dance music through some sort of interstellar wormhole, and then intercepted the mangled and deconstructed signal before it could be reassembled on the other side. A couple of basslines made it through almost intact. Somehow it all remains irresistibly groovy.
Release: July 2021

Distance Uncertain 1
Toré Ito
Percussionist Toré Ito’s debut EP is a lean, mean, techno machine. Armed with nothing but a pair of analogue synthesisers and an acoustic drum kit, Toré has put together four mesmerising, pulsating tracks packed full with intriguing rhythms and menacing sound design.
From the constantly morphing drum in Tau Eridani to the mechanic, machine-gun regularity of the snares in Draco, and from the loose and pared-down improvisations in R136a2 to the frenetic yet ultra-tight kit playing in Cassiopeia A, Distance Uncertain is an exercise in extracting varied results from limited tools.
Release: August 2021

Make Me Want You
Rafelle
Bringing together funk, neosoul and hiphop influences, Make Me Want You is a seriously groovy opening two-sider from Rafelle. You'll hear mean basslines, lazy backbeats and RnB vocal samples that fade in and out of focus, fleshed out with soulful organs and punctuated by brass stabs.
Release: September 2021

Blue Phase
Jupiter Blue
Jupiter Blue's debut album is a wild ride through a psychedelic landscape populated by bright synth stabs, jazzy chord sequences and colourful samples. Never content with resting on a groove or a pattern for too long, Jupiter Blue is constantly restructuring and rephrasing their ideas, surprising us with some wonderfully unexpected twists and turns. What ties it all together is the sense of playfulness, joy and silliness that runs through the record like an electric blue thread.
Atom Circles is the wild-child of the bunch, a kaleidoscopic track that practically swaps out its entire arrangement every 16 bars. After the sloppy, hip-hop-infused Lurch and the fidgety Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!, Blue Phase finally settles down into the gentle E-pianos and lazy handclaps of Lucky Luke, whose shiny, swinging climax is the release our ears have been craving.
Release: October 2021

Spirit Calls
Betu
Spirit Calls is the debut EP from Betu, a dreamy trip into primeval forest. Evoking dusky rituals, dance circles and smokey rites of passage, Betu's earthy techno will help you connect with your inner tribal warrior.
Release: November 2021
